Open-source infrastructure for mother-tongue training and documentation in Nepal — a mobile app where young people practice oral languages and record speech (including parents and grandparents), so communities and NGOs share one ethical backbone.
Learn ↔ Contribute ↔ Transmit
Youth learn from elder audio; elders’ voices become the next generation’s lessons.

npm install
npm startThen open in Expo Go (same network) or an emulator.
EAS / builds also run from apps/train only.
Privacy: recordings stay on-device for now. Nothing auto-uploads to the cloud or Hugging Face.

Open software ≠ open every recording. Default clip license is private.
- Training app first (motivation), with contribution built in
- Youth can record guardians with dual consent
- Partner-gated real languages (demo only until stewards + seed content)
- Sector backbone for NGOs — not a one-off extractive pilot
- Downstream models only on permitted data, later
Note on “linguistic justice”: this project is about mother-tongue practice, documentation, and community dignity — not multi-language court procedure. Legal process and official legal language remain Nepali unless policy changes elsewhere.
See CONTRIBUTING.md and CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md.
Do not PR real community audio into git.
MIT for software and documentation in this repository — see LICENSE.
Community recordings use separate per-clip licenses.
Made with care by AKT Tech (AktI-Tech).
Star this repo if you believe in mother-tongue survival, intergenerational transmission, and open infrastructure for Nepal’s languages.
