Release Beta
Improvements from RC1
- Added more gummy cutouts
- Small tracing and silkscreen updates for quality of life and aesthetics
- Component metadata updated: some metadata in RC1, specially resistor R88, was wrong
- Removed "RC-1" from label
Notes for production files
- Production files contain JLCPCB components, as defined by the component metadata in the schematic and board files. However, Elecrow-supplied part numbers are also provided for that factory. Not all components are identical; most are possible replacements.
- The design can use a multitude of microcontrollers (see the Joker64 topology ). The files as released use STM32F401RCT6, so the Bill of Materials uses the particular configuration for this microcontroller, namely, the lack of the USB D+ 1.5k resistor pullup
- Although the PCB also supports both on-board USB connector and a JST for USB daugterboard, the JST connector was removed from the BoM. The JST for the RGB daughterboard was also removed. These JSTs were removed because they need a specially designed case, otherwise they will bang against the case bottom during typing
Release Beta RC1 (schematic V2.1.5, layout V2.1.4)
Athena Revision Beta features a (more available) 64-pin STM32F401 microcontroller with some technical improvements, but same wide features as Revision Alpha: wide variety of layouts, removable USBC, JST connector for USB daughterboard support, JST connector for RGB daughterboard support, single-color LED backlight and RGB underglow available.
Technical improvements
- Components were hand-picked so that the PCB could be assembled by JLCPCB's assembly service, excluding the ESD IC component and USBC connector due to their top-layer positioning (please note that component availability was assessed at january 29, 2022 and can change by the day);
- Outlines were smoothed in some pieces;
- New Joker64 topology;
Notes
- The bill of materials released pertains to the Joker template configured for the F401 microcontroller. For clarification, read the Joker topology documentation.
- This BoM also does not have the two JST connectors, one for the USB daughterboard and another for the RGB daughterboard
- The 3D model STEP file contains both the JST connectors, which can be removed from the 3D model at the 3D software used (Fusion, SW...)
- RGB level translator IC changed to SOT-563 from SC-70-6
