I just had this same idea and figured I would find out who else has already done it. Does this project still work for you, or did you find a better alternative?

I've played a bit more with MKDocs on other projects. The mkdocs-material theme looks great. There's also extensions to add encryption on the pages with authentication. Lastly, I'm bussy working on using a PDF print plugin to output the document as a "book".

Nice! That will be really cool. So far, I am just getting our current recipes into Saffron, but I would love to have a public site with them listed as well. At this point Saffron is so good I don't mind giving them money but the static site backup is a must for me these days with SaaS changing all the time.

I will try this out and let you know how it goes!
