Insanely high disk IO

I decided to try out the linear world format through Leaf MC today to generate some Minecraft worlds with Chunky. However, I noticed that Minecraft was hammering my disk at a write speed of 90MB/s. I'm concerned about disk longevity, so I stopped it and tried switching back to MCA. This resulted in it dropping to 0-5MB/s write speed. Is this high disk usage normal, or is there something wrong with my server setup?

it's late but man these things do not damage your ssd or hdd. They are literally made to work at high speeds.
