Phase 3: Complete and audit the first organizationally independent verifier #5

Description

@veritaschain

Objective

Obtain, reproduce, and publicly evaluate the first implementation maintained outside the VeritasChain organization.

Owner: veritaschain
Target date: 2026-08-07
Dependencies: Issues #2, #3, #4

Actions

  • Confirm the external repository and maintainer satisfy the independence criteria
  • Pin the submitted implementation commit SHA
  • Reproduce the build in a clean environment
  • Run all four frozen vectors
  • Compare failure classifications, not only process exit codes
  • Confirm no VSO reference source was imported or mechanically translated
  • Record any contract ambiguity discovered by the implementer
  • Resolve ambiguities through a documented contract erratum or minor release
  • Obtain a signed maintainer statement describing implementation method and independence
  • Publish the reproducibility transcript

Acceptance matrix

Vector Required result
valid-pack.json PASS
invalid-tampered-event.json FAIL: integrity/signature/payload
invalid-omitted-outcome.json FAIL: completeness invariant
invalid-split-view.json FAIL: cross-party root disagreement

Definition of done

  • VSO independently reproduces the external verifier's results.
  • The external maintainer reproduces the VSO vector digests.
  • Differences in interpretation are documented rather than silently normalized.
  • A public result record identifies both commit SHAs and the exact contract version.

Claim permitted after completion

The VAP Common Evidence Pack contract has been independently implemented outside the VeritasChain organization and produced interoperable results against the frozen v0.1.0 vectors.

This claim must not be expanded into regulatory approval, formal certification, or endorsement by a standards body.
