Not sure if bug: clicking hyperlink (then stopping loading) already adds new domains to the permissions matrix

When I have loaded a static html-page with some hyperlinks, and I click a hyperlink (and immediately cancel the transition by clicking 'Stop'/ESC-key to stop loading), then it already adds the target domain-name to the "permissions matrix" in uBlock Origin.

The result is a mixed view of:

• domains and sources for the current webpage, i.e. plain, static html
• domains (also early third-party) of the hyperlink target domains

This gives the wrong representation of sources and is confusing to use. There might be other such "cross-bleeding" effects, as I have been caught by surprise on several occasions.

Does anyone else have the same anomalies?

No, it doesn't update any "permissions". (There are no "permissions" term in uBO, I don't know what you mean here, there are just block, allow or redirect status for the network connections).

I ask again: how do you conclude that?

To simplify your question: which exact connection requests that you think uBO should block but it doesn't? Don't mention any "permissions" here.

I think I understand your point. It reports on that single request, which happens to be allowed. (Obvious, because it is a user-initiated navigation action.) And there are no further consequences to other interactions with that target domain.

When you click on a link, and it loads a site, that document connection is a 1st-party connection.

You are not blocking 1st-party connections in your dynamic rules right now so of course it would load the 1st-party document connection (and it appears in the logger). This is not happens to be allowed. Otherwise, how can you navigate to a website when you click on its link if you don't want the document connection to appear?

Or are you wanting the browser to not load the site when you click on its link?

I am not sure I follow. cachyos.org is third-party to phoronix.com in any context, so it can't possibly be treated as first party. The request to cachyos.org was for the main document, which dynamic filtering never blocks, it just blocks secondary resources.

There is a built-in delay in uBO in order to confirm that a new context has actually occurred, and in the current case the context switch has not been confirmed, which matches that your browser didn't navigate to the fetched document. The context switch has not been committed, but a resource was still fetched, as reported by the logger. In this case, uBO is reporting the resource as if made in the current context -- there is nowhere else to report it. If the fetched resource had been anything else than a main document, it would have been blocked by your * * 3p block rule.

By default everything is allowed, except if you setup a filter or a firewall rule in uBO.
