As the linked to blog post shows; many of the top sites hosting the request are not in native English speaking parts of the world. To have a more useful educational effect; alternative translations should be available.

This can be achieved using a localization javascript library. But we also do not want to increase strain on user's browsers especially if they did not consent to this modal in the first place. We must also keep in mind that some locations still have bearishly slow Internet connectivity.

Perhaps include a link that is a translate icon that redirects to Google Translate, or a page with a list of pre-translated blurbs in multiple languages.

@LogoiLab No need to use a whole library, it's a single line. Could just if on navigator.language, and see if it's from the five most common ones in the traffic listed on the blog post, i.e. Chinese, Russian, Georgian, Vietnamese, or US English if it's not one of those, and call the modal creation with different text in each case.

The biggest hurdle is definitely getting translations done.

Another implementation option would be to push different scripts based on the Accept-Language header values sent from the browser, but probably easier to use the navigator.language based method from a code maintenance perspective.

I'd say keep the popup as-is but don't link every user to the very technical explanation, most people will just not understand it.

A simple page stating

• what happened
• what to do as an user
• what to do as an owner

should suffice, that could be translated to different languages if needed.

Also put the link to the blog post on that page for those who are curious.
