outliers when measuring gups/8GB #8
Description
There are several outliers when running experiments for gups/8GB; See the attached figure.
A possible solution would be:
- isolating the measured CPU via the isolcpus kernel boot parameter, and
- toggling the CPU on/off by writing 1/0 to "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu$n/online".
It is probably a good idea to sleep for a few seconds both after taking one core offline and online.
Both operations might take a few seconds to finish (might be more if the system is very busy at the moment of the operation).
Pay attention that the write might finish while the operation is still in progress.
