After picking up this software to try out for .cbz files, I thought I would try out some "real work" with it as well…
While I have found this software better than Adobe Acrobat (2011 edition) in few aspects, it is strangely deficient in others. When trying to annotate a PDF, I hit a problem.
The Free Text Annotation box cannot be resized. The dimensions appear to be listed in the side-pane as dx & dy, but cannot be changed, but I would have expected sizing handles on the text box to achieve this end.
The text with the Free Text Annotation box is also has a full line space above any text after a carriage return or line feed. This uses up the space in the non-resizable box quite quickly. Of course, by reducing the size of the typeface, the required text may fit, but legibility suffers in consequence.
Surprisingly, this software recognises the "Line" annotation which I created with Acrobat, and while one can change the width with this software, despite indications on the annotation side-pane, the ends cannot be changed. This software does not even offer the option of a "Line" annotation. This software may well recognise other unsupported annotation types, but I have not put that to the test.
While this software is good for viewing files, annotating still has a way to go.
following are the annotation tools in Acrobat (2011), for potential future inspiration? 😀
