Vibe coding and autonomous agents are not allowed when contributing to this project.
As the human in the loop, you are responsible for every line of code contributed. This means that you must not only fully read, review, understand and hence be able to answer any questions about it, you must edit out the slop and make the code your own.
Good contributions made with AI assistance are indistinguishable from contributions made without AI assistance by skilled software developers.
This means that if you wouldn't be able to produce the contribution without the use of AI, you likely lack the knowledge to properly judge whether the output is adequate and of high quality. In that case, don't contribute with code. It would be rude and disrespectful to offload potentially unqualified work since it puts the burden of validation on the maintainers. Instead, you can describe your use case (that you might have wanted to solve by directly contributing a PR) in an issue or discuss your idea in the forum.
All communication, including PR descriptions after you marked them ready for review, must remain a conversation between humans. Write in your own words, from your own understanding. Don't paraphrase AI output. Be concise and write what matters. We value clear, human communication over perfect grammar or spelling.
When using AI assistance, you must always state the tool you used and in what capacity and extent you used it to generate code.
Especially for bigger and more complex contributions, please tell us about your setup and your process briefly. I.e. initial prompts made, iterations done, use of skills, use of adversarial agents for review, etc.
This policy is subject to change. As we gather experience with AI-assisted contributions, the policy is more likely to turn stricter, rather than more liberal.
In the future, we may restrict AI usage to experienced contributors for who we already know we can trust that they use AI responsibly, in the spirit of the above described policies. For new contributors, we can't ultimately know that, without a system of trust.
