Operations Examples - High-Level Utilities

This directory contains clean, production-ready examples demonstrating how to use the python-alfresco-api high-level utilities for common operations. These examples are MCP-server-free and show the pure high-level utility patterns.

Available Examples

upload_document.py - Document Upload Operations

  • Code Reduction: 83% (294 → ~85 lines)
  • Features: Automatic versioning, error handling, batch uploads
  • Key Function: create_and_upload_file_highlevel()
  • Examples: Basic upload, metadata upload, batch operations

versioning_workflow.py - Document Versioning

  • Code Reduction: 88% (655 → ~187 lines across 3 operations)
  • Features: Complete checkout → edit → checkin workflow
  • Key Functions:
    • checkout_document_highlevel() - Lock for editing
    • checkin_document_highlevel() - Save version and unlock
    • cancel_checkout_highlevel() - Discard changes
  • Version Pattern: Upload (1.0) → Minor (1.1) → Major (2.0)

basic_operations.py - Core CRUD Operations

  • Code Reduction: 86% (554 → ~249 lines)
  • Features: Folder creation, document management, browsing, deletion
  • Key Functions:
    • create_folder_highlevel() - Folder creation with metadata
    • list_children_highlevel() - Browse folder contents
    • delete_node_highlevel() - Delete with trash/permanent options
    • bulk_delete_nodes_highlevel() - Batch deletion

search_operations.py - Search Operations (In Progress)

  • Code Reduction: 10-20% (search tools already well-architected!)
  • Features: Content search, metadata queries, advanced search
  • Key Function: simple_search() (already excellent!)
  • Note: Main improvement is enhanced result formatting

How to Use

1. Basic Setup Pattern
