Why does the Glide tag output a localized url using multisite?

For example:
Main site:
/images/asset/YXNzZXRzL2JhY2tncm91bmRzL3BsYW50My5wbmc=/plant3.png?h=600&fm=webp&s=fe9e7e6669766c452d97411a060ef9cd
English site:
/en/images/asset/YXNzZXRzL2JhY2tncm91bmRzL3BsYW50My5wbmc=/plant3.png?h=600&fm=webp&s=fe9e7e6669766c452d97411a060ef9cd

Won't Google treat them as separate resources even though they are identical? Or is there a setting I'm missing?
The core of the issue is the URL::prependSiteRoot in Statamic\Imaging\GlideUrlBuilder, making it seem this is intended?

That doesn't work when glide is in default (dynamic) mode. #1953 would have fixed my issue, but that was never merged.

Why not simply enable caching? Everything is cached anyways, just within the storage folder. Can you explain what you need dynamic mode for exactly? I can barely think of a use case where you'd not want the caching.

I've already set up my live site using the default caching (dynamic) mode. From my testing, all image urls change when I enable caching now (e.g. from /images/asset/Y29udGVudC9ob21lLzEucG5n/1.png to something like /images/containers/xxx/xxx/1.png). So ideally I leave the cache setting as-is (so dynamic).

One of the reasons is because if you have sites with different domains it would be awkward if you're on domain1.com and your images are coming from anotherdomain.com/img/... so we let Glide work from any of your site URLs.

We might be able to make it serve from the root though, without a subdirectory, so that / and /en both serve from /img (and not /en/img but then we'd still have the same duplicate content issue if you're using different domains.

Also, if we support localized assets one day, then you'd probably get the localized version at /en/img/... which could technically be different.

Is there maybe a way to hook into the dynamic Glide url generation and fix it by providing a custom implementation somehow? Or can I turn on caching and modify the base url of the cached images (since the urls are fixed when image cache is enabled, see #12007 (reply in thread)) in some config file?
