repo and "Type '?'..." prompts displayed on top each other

On Mac Safari (macOS 10.12) clicking on the upper-right repo selection field results in this:

Subsequent typing clears out the "Type '?'..." prompt and everything looks/behaves as expected. This is 100% reproducible on my two machines, every time I click the repo selector.

The same thing happens when I click the Ln X, Col Y field in the lower right when a document is open.
