hello.

I just had a quick look onto the code, and I noticed functions which are deprecate since a while now.
All the validate_* for instance are now deprecated.

In general, I'd ask you whether is possible to review the whole module, since it has not been touched for years now.

Please let me know if you don't have time and need any help.
