In order to abstract away the storage mechanism, solo-kit allows users to specify the storage backend for their resource. In gloo this is used for the Artifact resource. However, marshalling and unmarshalling these resources from kube resources to proto objects uses quite a bit of CPU. We should think of a way to reduce this if possible.
