Audience : iPhone percentage is lower than Apple Podcast app #40
-
Hello, On one of my podcast I observe something I consider abnormal in the data : I have more listeners on Apple Podcast app (64%) that on Apple iPhone (61%). For the other podcasts I track, there are more listeners on iPhone than the Apple podcast, which makes sense because there are many podcasting app available on iOS. I know the Apple Podcast app is also available on the web and iPad, but given 79% of my listeners are on mobile, I found it strange. It means almost all mobile users use the Apple Podcast app and no other app. Is this something observed on other shows as well ? I'm curious to read others' point of view. |

Apple Podcasts is available on iPhones, iPads and Apple Computers, and OP3 also detects AP downloads via Apple's web-based player, which can come from non-Apple devices. OP3 was the first stats system to detect and include these, now the other hosting companies are following suit.
Taking a look at your December export, using the Export Download Details box in the show stats page for that show, I see that there are some web-based Apple Podcasts plays from non iPhones. Filter on the "referrerName" column.
Hope that helps!
