Ihor E. Novikov (Igor Novikov, aka @sk1project, aka 'Linfan' on LOR) has died on March 15th, 2021.

@albertbronsky (aka 'kvikni' on LOR), Ihor's eldest son, posted this info on LOR (linux.org.ru) on March 18th, 2021.

On March 15, 2021, my dad, Igor Novikov aka Linfan, passed away. Dad was 49 years old, he had 2 sons (I am the eldest) and 2 daughters. He was admitted to the hospital with a stroke, but, unfortunately, he was infected there with the coronavirus. Dad loved to live and made many plans for the future. In the hospital, he fought to the end for a month.

He really liked LOR, Linux and Open Source. And really wanted to help people who do not have the money to buy professional software for printing, so for almost 20 years he has been developing the open vector editor sK1 and UniConvertor.

    Eternal memory.

Ihor E. Novikov (1971 - 2021), Ukraine 🇺🇦

P.S.

NOTE: As for now sK1 Project on GitHub is still active & maintained at least by me (@Symbian9) and @maxim-s-barabash, so pull request & issues reports are welcome.

Hello. Ihor's son here. Thank you for this announcement. Also, many thanks for the collection of his speeches.
May I offer to correct his year of birth? It's 1971. He would have been 50 this October.

Also, I found these pieces as well:

All my condolences to the family of this great contributor to open source. I'm deeply sorry since this was a project and program that I followed and used a lot.

I suggest, @Symbian9, to name the next release of the project or the project itself as Ihor itself.

@lobaluna, I guess we would release sK1 2.0 "Ihor" this October.

Just wanted to leave my respect to Ihor

Last year of his life he became my teammate here in Ukraine. He was very open and bright person and had enormous amount of experience and shared it with everyone he could. I can't even describe how bad that news were for me, because it seemed like we would spend much more time working together. He wasn't just a good programmer, but good father and teacher. You have inspired many people to do things, including me.

Rest in peace, friend. I won't forget you

Rest in peace. May I ask - if he has got a vaccine or not?

No, the vaccines had not yet been available to general public back in February 2021 when he was admitted to hospital.

Absolutely agreed, in that time noone was vaccinated at all, and it wasn't even question about money or power - Ukraine just didn't have vaccines.

Yes, the mass vaccination only started in June 2021.
