px vs rem

Hi,

In general I have the impression by default rem is a better unit than pixels by default for that it gives users to freedom to change the equation 1rem = 16px.

But I see shoelace prefers px over rem. I am curious why this is chosen and rationale behind it. Could you suggest?

We use rem pretty liberally, but there are a few places where px could be replaced for a more scalable unit. However, I'd say we're going to close this off to PRs for the time being since we're completely reworking theming and I believe @lindsaym-fa has already addressed this in one of her branches.
