There's seems to be a Rd syntax mistake in https://rstudio.github.io/promises/reference/future_promise.html#value. Source:

           #' @return Unlike [future::future()`], `future_promise()` returns a [promise()] object that will eventually resolve the \pkg{future} `expr`.

Looks like this is due to a missing backtick.
