This does not work. I installed latest radxa image from this wiki and it booted fine. But if I do system update using rsetup then it crashes and never boots again !!

I followed these instructions and I ran system update via rsetup successfully. If I reboot then it no longer boots !!!

Ditto. Tried "Sahara" mode but couldn't find my "Firehose" or whatever the F. Going to try flashing the bootloader again.

Through the use of a UART cable, I was able to get enough info out of the boot failure log to figure out what was going on:

First, I did enter the DFU (they call it something else) mode, and flashed the latest bootloader to the board; this didn't change a thing, so I wouldn't risk it.

What happened in my case is that I used Balena Etcher to write the .img.xz to my SD Card (I also used the SD Card Formatter app beforehand) on macOS - don't do this; it doesn't work, and writes an invalid disk image to the card.

Extracting the .xz file and using sudo dd if=/Path/To/image.img bs=4M status=progress of=/dev/disk4 (you can find which disk your SD card is is with sudo diskutil list) wrote the image correctly for me.

You can also call xz and pipe it into dd but I don't have the command arguments I used handy right now.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I had Claude assist me with this; there is actually something wrong with Radxa's newer packages, some specific ones that if you do an update, it will brick your device again. In a bit I will show you how I was able to "hold" those packages in apt so they aren't upgraded, but you can still get everything else.

My board seems to be OK now, after a full sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade. Don't do the upgrade until you know which packages to hold back though!
