⏳ DI2F Workshop Competition Announcement 🚀

As part of the DI2F Workshop, we're hereby announcing workshop competition! We challenge you to build tools that provide useful functionality to IPFS users and developers, but are also useful for research studies. Any software tool submitted for consideration for a prize should be published under an open-source licence (ideally MIT+Apache2) and be made available in a public repository (GitHub or similar).

💰 We’ll be awarding $1000 prizes to the top submission in the following categories:

• IPFS Network Observatory: Measure network churn (fine-granularity, in the order of minutes, uptime of nodes in DHT server and client mode) and network size (number of unique IPFS nodes over time) of the IPFS network. The tool can either run continuously, or for some pre-specified amount of time (e.g., through a CLI option).
• IPFS Search: Index the content on the IPFS network in an efficient way and provide a user interface for searching.
• IPFS Network Visualizer: Visualize data traversing the IPFS network, content requests, as well as access and performance metrics (especially content discovery and DHT lookup latency), node performance, its variation, or other node or network activity.
• IPFS Content Visualizer: Visualize where content lives, by scanning/sniffing the network (e.g. through Bitswap), collecting provider records, and mapping an IP address to a location (e.g., ASN, or geolocation).

Teams can participate in more than one challenge and will be eligible for more than one prize.

In order to be eligible for a prize, please submit your code by Monday 12th of July midnight AoE (Anywhere on Earth) in this discussion thread, by email ([email protected]), or slack.

Thanks @navinkeizer ! This is super interesting and I've already started playing around with it. As you mention in the repo, there's certainly a lot of space for improvement. I'll be more than happy to discuss those extensions.
