[MacBook Pro] Pipewire 0.3.74 update breaks audio unless settings are open #59
Comments
This issue is hardware-specific, so please provide more specific information about what hardware you're running. Your motherboard and/or sound card would be relevant.
Please provide more information about this, is it something you set up yourself? That would not be expected by default. |
Please also check if the issue is fixed on 0.3.77 that has already been released. |
+1 facing same issue. 0.3.77 not working as well. all default, no custom setup. hardware info:
Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) |
@cristobalo7 You're using a Mac? Please provide the computer model. |
yes. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2012). |
@jacobgkau just found another issue. built-in bluetooth device not detected, |
Very similar specs to cristobalo7 above: Macbook Pro mid 2012 with Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)
I hadn't set this up. My understanding is that sometimes apt packages are held back to allow a gradual roll out on some distros. Looks like I may've been lucky.
I can confirm this is likely unrelated. I've restored from a backup so I'm back to using 0.3.65 with audio working, but still suffer the same bluetooth issue. |
There shouldn't be any apt packages held back anymore. We removed every trace of Ubuntu's mechanism that was causing this. |
Apologize for not being clear. The bluetooth and audio issue are two separate issues. Audio issue Bluetooth issue |

Issue/Bug Description:
Updating packages above break audio. Audio works only when settings pane or PulseAudio Volume Control is open.
Using apt the packages are successfully held back, but updating through Pop Shop updates the packages.
Steps to reproduce (if you know):
Run software update through Pop Shop.
Expected behavior:
Audio works as normal.
Other Notes:
Steps from here fail to fix.
Running very old hardware. Given that packages are successfully held back in apt guessing the audio issue occurring upstream has already been reported, but unable to find similar bug report.
Current pipewire version (0.3.65) works fine.
