At login, .config/gtk-4.0/cosmic/dark.css and .config/gtk-4.0/cosmic/light.css are re-generated (as is symbolic link .config/gtk-4.0/gtk.css.bak by extension). This means any lines added to these files are erased at login and thus the css files can't be tweaked to change GTK appearance. Maybe this is intended behavior, but someway to preserve additions would be nice.

It shouldn't be touched at all by Cosmic, I would suggest you to disable the feature and manually add the stylesheet of cosmic into it. You can disable the feature in the settings.
