Every packager is free to do what they want, including keeping a snapshot of the source code. Because that's what we're talking about, right? Snapshots? Working in sync with upstream developers seems like the best practice to me. We need to provide them with an easy way to package their apps, and encourage them to do so. I'm trying here and here. PS: I have a lot of unofficially packaged AppImage packages in my repositories, about 100 in total, and I'm not happy about having to produce and maintain so many. I'd prefer upstream did it. |

Usecase: If upstream source code vanish at least we get the latest sourcecode archive and AppImages are stored in pkgforge repos anyway.
Also asking @ivan-hc for thoughts about archiving upstream source for his distributed AppImages.
