What if, whenever you send a message with new words in a group chat, you’re lobbing a little attack bot at everyone there?

⚔️ Whenever you write a message with new words, you get a certain number of XP for that message.
🛡️ Each recipient has a limited amount of time to get the same XP or higher or you'll steal a vocab point from them.

Inspiration for a potential visual representation for the "attack bot" from the Netflix show Arcane

Flow:

1. User A sends a message. They get a New Vocab Point for every new word that they introduce into the chat.
2. User B now has a limited time to demonstrate that they know the new words.
3. User B needs to get the same score or higher, else User A is going to steal a Vocab Point from them.

Activities per message type and the threshold needed for User B to "win". For a message sent:

• Without assistance: User B needs to correctly do all the activities associated with the new word.
• With the Interactive Translator (IT), the user initially sees the message in their L1 and needs to correctly reconstruct the message with same or better error rate as the sender.
• With the Interactive Grammar Checker (IGC), the user sees the message with grammar errors and needs to fix them with the same or better error rate as the sender.

Questions and other ideas:

• What activities do they have to do with the message if it was sent without assistance?
• Do we just do it on activities that were sent with IGC?
• Maybe you only have to do the activity if it has word forms that are new to you.
• Maybe each message generates a pot of XP/gold that you’re then fighting over as a group.
• We could give extra points for words in a hidden vocabulary list that are automatically chosen as the top 50 words for a chosen topic.
• The points become a sort of relative ranking (ELO) of language ability. If just one person takes a test, then you can say something about the level of others in the chat.
