Nemo: please add bookmarks-bar

Would be great if Nemo had an optional bookmarks-toolbar.

Click = open in current tab.
Middle click = to open in new tab and set focus to it.

Nice idea although the space in the toolbar is a bit tight.

Meanwhile, try this workaround:

1. Create linked folders on your desktop (with Nemo actions)
2. Group similar links in (real) folders and bookmark these
3. Your bookmarked folders (with linked subfolders) will appear in Nemo's left sidebar.

What's wrong with the current sidebar? You can left/middle click to perform various actions on those bookmarks. The way the top toolbar is constructed doesn't really lend itself to just another place to keep bookmarks.

Mint's sidebar follows a classic design to display bookmarks. And it works, but it's too stiff for nowadays data flows.

My critique point of this bookmark design is that every bookmark in the left sidebar takes a whole line.

A much "better" solution would be in my opinion, a "tag cloud". Months ago I posted how I'd reimagine Mint's left sidebar:

A tag cloud would make a better use of available space, displaying more bookmarks and sort them by relevance (most accessed or other criteria defined by the user).

Eventually these bookmarks could become a dynamic browsing experience too.

In the screenshot the OP posted, the Bookmarks tool bar occupies the right side of the main menu line. So it could be added without taking up another line of the window. Also, it would have more space to expand into if the menubar is disabled.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask, since I hardly knew bookmarks existed, but it surely seems sufficient that (a) the Bookmarks section exists in the side panel, and (b) you can drag often-used directories into the My Computer section, as well, which is what I've been doing.

On the other hand, while I'm not generally in favor of visual clutter, I am very much n favor of giving users as many choices as possible. One of the things I love about LM is how customizable it is (reminiscent of earlier versions of Windows), and sometimes I feel it could be even more customizable. Although I have to say, the variety of ways in LM to achieve the same goal is truly impressive.

With the additional option, to make it toggleable, because we already have bookmarks on the left side. So people can toggle it to the top side if they want, but the users (including me) who got used to the left side bookmark, can stay vanilla.

Ok I see how bookmarks seem outdated. Places seem more used these days.
Would be nice to have the 'folder tree' AND 'places'. Together.
