Rhino crashes when BHoM repo is triggered #3388

I am trying to build a rhino app. It has a UI in WPF and the crash occurs when I trigger a command containing a BHoM method (Line 89) in it. The break point at the start of the command (Line 70) is not hit.

If I comment out the line with the BHoM method (Line 89) in it no crash occurs. The breakpoint at Line 70 is hit and I can continue on to execute the entire command.

Okay I managed to figure it out. Posting my solution here.

Step 1 - The first step was realising that Rhino crashes unexpectedly it generates a window that asks if you want to report the issue to McNeel (Rhino's developers) - when this window is present only, a .txt file is also created on the desktop containing the crash details and cause. This txt file is deleted as soon as the report window is closed

Step 2 - The actual error in the crash report text file is: [ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Geometry_oM, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'Geometry_oM, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'

Step 3 - The BHoM dlls are required to be copied next to the rhino plugin manifest file (a .rhp file). So to make this happen I referenced the BHOM packages in the project creating the rhino plugin and added this into the property group true

All dlls from referenced projects are now copied next to the rhp plugin file

Step 4 - This creates a new error where the RhinoCommon.dll is also copied next to the .rhp file, something Rhino does not accept when loading a plugin. To prevent this specific RhinoCommon.dll from getting copied you can add this runtime to any Rhino package reference in all your.csproj files
