For discounted business rates, you could try mailbox.org. It's run by Peer Heinlein, who was one of the pioneers of E-Mail and hosting in Germany. He does a lot of Linux stuff and I know he sponsors open source. Worth a try. |

Hey folks - we're rightly in the swing of the organisation side of things right now. We can't yet do a blogpost as the new website isn't quite ready however @cameronbraid has been working on a port for us ❤️
Team management
We're building a new formalised team structure and have ensured direct push to main on
recipes
is restricted to org admins. In time I'll also demote my pushing and follow the same process. Once you're a member of the org you can request to join thepkg
team and subteams such aspkg:gnome
, etc. We're soon adding CODEOWNERS to ensure that reviews go to the right places and add some autonomy to the process, i.e. not requiring org-admin approval for every single PR ^^CLA update
As we've renamed we've issued an updated CLA which will need signing for new PRs. It's the same as the old CLA but incorporates the new name to avoid us causing legal confusion. Note that new copyright lines will need adding past the expiration of the "Serpent OS" name, starting from 2025.
Infrastructure
We're still primarily on the old infrastructure but steadily shifting across. We've approached Proton for discounted business rates for open source projects but unfortunately we don't qualify as we're not registered as a non-profit organisation. Instead we're looking towards fastmail or similar.
We're still resolving CDN stuff, and have also approached Cloudflare but not heard anything back.
Sponsorship stuff
There've been requests for us to join OpenCollective, but tldr the fees are much higher than Ko-fi. Whilst the current income is primarily supporting myself as a developer, the general plan is to build out a new part of the upcoming website to incorporate financial information, ie incoming vs outgoing, using Ko-fi / Stripe / GitHub APIs. In time and with growth, we'd look to establish a non-profit linked to Stripe and use that to make payments too.
