If I opt-in to auto-updates will they happen inside the app or does turning that on kick off a process on my system? It asked me for root permission on Linux so I canceled because it's unclear why it's asking.

This will be part of @scareything monitor service. I am simply setting the values.

@scareything - fyi. This issue was transferred from the UI project to here (by me) because it feels more relevant to ziti-edge-tunnel to me. but really, i don't think this issue has a good "single repository"?

For my info, does the scope of the monitor service include reconciling state between the Linux tunneler and the Linux UI?

The service would be responsible for controlling the data service, collecting logs, that sort of thing. not reconciling state. currently, the data service (ziti-edge-tunnel) sends IPC messages when events happen. The UI then reacts to those events
