Notes:

• International WGs especially require cadence. Clear goals. E.g., meet fortnightly with clear goals for what to deliver. Cadence means people can plan around them.

• Tie in with the overarching themes and goals. Connect to real-world issues, but also promote open innovation/experimentation.

• Clear responsibilities and roles defined. Have a model to find consensus. "Good enough for now, safe enough to try" as a way of making progress amid disagreement.

• Challenges of direct management at the contribution level...

• Engaging ECR folks: incentives matter, esp. things that can be added to CV. Papers matter. Smaller WG directed toward publishing.

• Idea of trust: organization as a source of reputable materials, e.g., educational materials, both for graduate students (eg) on research best practices, and for instructors (e.g., tutorials). Meetings and communications for grads to share experiences and opinions.

• Research ON the development and community applications of standards could be a piece of this, with possible external funding.

• This is an area of scholarship: analytics. Social media marketing and business. Gaming theory (economics and sociology). Behavioral economics. "Nudge" theory. People study, for example, forms: does changing the design of form change behavior? Push notifications on mobile phones, etc. Ethical dimensions.

• Governance: include (1) ETHICS (e.g., code of conduct), and (2) DIVERSITY.
