Network connection cannot be established by retrying, OH-Android has to be killed and started again #3774

On my phone I have installed OpenHAB 3.14.0 and 3.14.7 beta. Both are configured to use the same local connection. In addition the 3.14.7-beta has configured a remote connection. However from the internal network, the external IP address is unreachable. Do not ask me why this is so, I do not know. For sure the public IP address of my router is not reachable from the internal network.

This internal network sometimes has troubles. However I observed yesterday this behaviour: Both 3.14.0 and 3.14.7-beta were running on my Android. One of them was displayed, and I could switch to the other. One of both applictation stated (I do not remember which one), that it was connected to the local OpenHAB-server, the other stated that it cannot connect, and offered a Retry button. Once I clicked the Retry button, it again said it cannot connect. After terminating the application (by swiping it up in the list of running applications) and starting it again, that application connected correctly to the local OpenHAB server. I do not remember the exact error message related to networking. I cannot reproduce it, but it happened as described.

  • When there are network troubles to the local server, and OpenHAB-Android offers retry button, this button does not retry. Only closing and starting the whole application enables connecting to the server.
