First Suggestion Ever

id like to state that its such a honor to both report the first bug and file the first suggestion for such a good system

here are my suggestions:

1. hydrogen peroxide could be the required item to destroy fingerprints
2. better weapon evidence mechanics:
   magazines in real life cannot be tied back to the weapon, but the shells can. irl every legal weapon (including police weapons) have a code (not serial number) that are engraved into the weapon with a lazer, which also copies itself to every shell fired. this way, if the weapon has a microstamp, shells fired from that weapon can easily be traced back to the mother-weapon. but this is only the case for legal weapons as irl people can just remove the microstamp, specifically gang members etc.

I have lot of more ideas for weapon mechanics and I think I do have a great knowledge on the matter, if you like my ideas you can contact me in my discord, khaosen. i'd like to contribute to this amazing project.

i forgot to write in but if the weapon doesn't have a microstamp, they can't trace the shell back to the weapon directly but they can compare a shell and a weapon to see if they match, this can be done because of micro imperfections inside the barrel of the weapon.

We have now implemented your first suggestion in v1.0.4.

Regarding the second point: We will try to implement most of it, thank you for your input.

A showcase video would definitely be a great addition, but since we're not that good at video editing, it might take a while to create.
We don't have a Discord server at the moment because we believe it doesn't make sense in the current state of this project.

When u shoot ur weapon barrel gets heat , police can check others weapons

We, finally, would like to rework the weapon evidence mechanics soon.

As part of this, we’d like to ask you, @khaosen, if you could help us by writing us a short list of all weapon-related evidence types we should add, the scenarios in which a evidence of those types should be generated and what information cops should obtain by analyzing the evidence.

Your input would help us ensure the system is both realistic and engaging.

1. Microstamps
   Basically any legal weapon (There could be a API for this.) would be "microstamped". What does that mean? Basically microstamp is unique to each weapon and its 8 digits like "8H5KB4M3" and whenever a bullet is fired from a stamped gun the microstamp is automatically written into the bullet. So police, if microstamped, can directly link a shell to a weapon and its owner from there.

2. DNA
   Each character, upon creation, would receive a DNA, something unique, 16 chars or whatever. This would not be visible to police. Then there would a boolean area which would be false by default and would turn true once police logs someone. When someone is shot, they would drop a blood sample immediately and keep doing so for some time, preferebly configurable. If they are in a car it'd stick to the car instead of dropping to ground. Bloods in a car could be cleanable with a tool, yall decide. Police, upon collecting blood, can run it in the crime lab and see if it matches someone. Keep in mind, system would check if that person's DNA is actually in the system. So someone, whose DNA isn't logged, wouldn't be traceable, just like IRl.

3. Fingerprint
   Each character upon creation would receive a Fingerprint. This would also be, just like DNA, have to be recorded. If held a weapon (knife, pistol etc) their fingerprint would be added to that weapon unless they're wearing a glove. This would only be removed if a lot of time passes or its cleaned with a tool. Police could (just like DNA) test in crime lab to see if the fingerprint on a weapon matches someone, keep in mind again their fingerprint should be in the system in order to match. I think fingerprint shouldn't be a seperate item, instead tests should be done with the tool itself to make it simpler.

4. Crime lab
   As I have said before, lab can be used to match fingerprint & dna.

5. Evidence storing
   I think the evidence-box thing was overcomplicating things. I think it should be a simple ui with 2 buttons: Create, View. When you press create it'd ask for a identificator and create a stash with it. And whenever u pressed view it'd show all casefiles (with the ability to search) and once you press one of them you could view/take/put items from/to the casefile.

6. Introducing new evidence
   Whenever you record someones Fingerprint or DNA, if it matches a evidence stored in evidence store (But obviously went unnoticed as the dna/fingerprint wasn't on the system) system would basically say "This persons DNA/Fingerprint matches the ones that are in XXXX and YYYY case files."

7. Matching bullets and weapons
   If a weapon isn't microstamped a bullet can't be directly traced back to the weapon but in crime lab you could compare a bullet and weapon to decide if the bullet was fired from that specific weapon or not. You'd need to have both the weapon and the bullet to do this.
