Active entity -create -edit / what is the best way to do it?

Is it an active entity connected with the same state entity from the list? I am not sure are the active entities designed in that way, for example:

Can I make changes on an active entity than before saving an entity to a database check / compare it with the same entity from the list to determine if there are changes between them? To be sure to alert users about unsaved changes? Or that is not for active entities meant to be used?

I am not sure to make that check-in separate not related feature or can I use active entities for the purpose?

Active entities are a reference to the entities ids.
