Enabling long paths may solve the problem in windows 10, but it does not work properly on windows 11. Even if this is a well known bug in windows 11 which has still not been fixed after quite some time, you might really want to work around it at your end because every windows 11 maui developer is likely to run into the same problem.

What worked for me is adding this property group to the project file so that nuget packages are stored elsewhere:

     <RestorePackagesPath>c:\ngt</RestorePackagesPath>		
</PropertyGroup>

Thanks for this, I'd been failing at 'install the package' on my setup and .net maui "official" line of 'its a visual studio problem' wrt long file names wasn't much help. Replied in case anyone else has the issue just to confirm its an easy fix and visual studio seemed to "just move things" after changing the folder ( I'd been worried since the nuget folder is massive).
