Heya.

I caught wind of this GitHub project after putting in some research on custom AI Assistants. When I downloaded the setup and ran it, it seemed to install just fine and opened up the LocalChat application, before closing it and the installer. I found the main exe in the Local folder and tried running it. It did nothing but made the "Working in background" mouse icon appear, then stops.

Is there something that I'm missing for it to run properly? My machine that I'm running on this currently runs Windows 10 and has 16GB of DDR3 RAM. The CPU is an Intel Core i3-3220T. I don't think my storage matters currently, as it's a 640 GB Western Digital HDD. If you need more info then what I disclosed, feel free to ask.

Many thanks - Alexander

I'm gonna simply leave the same notice I have just added to the README here for your information:

I noticed that LocalChat is gaining in popularity. That's great! However, this year I will have to defend my PhD thesis, so I will have limited time to code, which I will mainly direct towards my main app, Zettlr. This means that LocalChat won't receive many commits from my side. That being said, it is much easier to review & merge pull requests and in case there are PRs that improve the app, I'll happily review and merge, and continue to update the app. However, this will only work if people open PRs. So, if you enjoy the app, please contribute. Regular development on my own side can proceed in early 2026 again.
