What version of Music Assistant has the issue?

2.3.3

What version of the Home Assistant Integration have you got installed?

2024.11.5

Have you tried everything in the Troubleshooting FAQ and reviewed the Open and Closed Issues and Discussions to resolve this yourself?

  • Yes

The problem

Within Home Assistant navigate to Music Assistant, choose the Search option, then in the search input quickly type in your search selection. This should be something you haven't searched before and helps to have a longer search string such as "Swedish House Mafia" assuming you haven't searched for that before. This is more apparent when using a swipe to text keyboard.

Expected: New results are shown until all characters are typed

Actual: New results are not shown after the first 3 or so characters. Given the example of "Swedish House Mafia" you will see results like "Sweet Caroline", "Sweet Dreams", etcetera which should have dropped off the results when "Swed" is typed.

How to reproduce

Search for a song or band name by typing very quickly. Use swipe to text on a phone to more easily see this.

This is known. Type the last letter slowly is the current solution I use.
