  • Yes

The problem

When switching from an individual player to a group, music is streamed to the powered off players that were previously used, even if they aren't in the group. This behaviour wasn't present before the group re-working.

How to reproduce

Preamble:

  • 3 AirPlay Players: Player A, Player B, Player C
  • 1 Group Player (Player B + C)

To Reproduce:

  • Play music on Player A
  • Stop Player A
  • Power off Player A
  • Play music on Group player (Player B + C).
  • Music plays on Players A, B + C

Player A will show as "Powered Off" whilst playing.

I am seeing this as well on 2.4.0b7 + 2024.11.5 on HA 2024.11.3 with Apple Music.

I remember it happening before, but thought I must have caused it myself. Happened again today just like reported. When I noticed the "extra" speaker playing I turned it on (joined) the group and then back off. The player stopped as did all of the other players in the group. Oddly, the group player still showed as playing and the speakers were still joined but no music. Pause and Play and the music was playing on the joined speakers as well as the "extra" speaker that is still not joined.

Sounds like somehow that other player was the group leader then. This will be looked at soon.
