Language Localization?

I'm working on some of the language localization stuff. I would like to make the site functional in English (maybe other languages). I found the localization for messages in backend/messages. Is there any kind of design or idea on how support for multiple languages will be organized?

I can just change all of the Russian to English, but that will be of limited use. It would be better to do it in a way that allows changing via the admin interface (partially implemented?).

I have to admit, I really like this project except the fact that most of the contents are in Russian. I hope they sort out the localization soon.

At the meantime, I am working on a yii2 version of this on my free time, so hopefully will get it up on here soon
