Watch mode is very slow

What happened?

When running hunk with hunk diff --watch it becomes very slow, to the point of not responding while files are being edited.

Steps to reproduce

1. Run hunk diff --watch
2. Edit file (manually/via an agent)

Hunk becomes unbearably slow - not responding to clicks, scroll, diffs not loading

Expected behavior

Hunk remains smooth while watching for changes :)

Can echo this -- basically becomes unusable for me after a few scrolls.

ETA: I'm not sure #531 would help with what I'm seeing. It seems very connected to using the scrollwheel. If I scroll up and down quickly, pages stop refreshing and it drags to a halt.

Debouncing scroll events perhaps?

If there's a scroll issue that's disconnected from --watch could you open another issue?

I really need more data because by and large, most people use --watch and there isn't a lot of movement on this issue (e.g. if this was problematic, people couldn't scroll etc, I'd expect to see more comments or +1s).
