Can we have an abort control in device connection loop

In some circumstance the cockpit initialisation hangs at device connection  for no readily apparent reason. Just now the Diamond system hung attempting to connect to the 100x objective, so to an internal cockpit device. 

Can we get a method to break out of this loop as to kill it. Currently we need to start task manager and kill python before we can try a restart.
