Currently, hardsuits are kinda... meh. I had the thought of modular hardsuits that could be customized to meet the requirements the user has for it. Apparently this was a thing in some SS13 servers (and maybe some SS14 ones now? Unsure).
Basically, a roboticist would be able to modify different elements of the hardsuit, Swap out plating for different resistances, built in magboots/jetpack, and customize the appearance of the suit to suit your preferences.
The basic setup and modules would likely be aimed at parity with existing hardsuits. Modules would require some investment in research and materials to do fancier things.
