How to use the API examples?

I am trying to use the API by setting up the examples given in the documentation. However, I get an error message:

I have some programming knowledge, but my background is in Python and my knowledge about JavaScript is limited. Any explanation on where the error comes from and how to use the example is really appreciated.

The console should have more details. are both Meta Bind and JS Engine up to date? What is the script you are running?

I have just updated all installed plugins. JS Engine is on Version 0.3.2, Meta Bind on 1.4.1, both are enabled.
