The branches dropdown doesn't work in either the default browser nor Chromium, so i can't select picast 2 and/or any of its files for download, I can't even go to the repo page. So please guide me on how to get picast going. Thanks.

This doesn't work either (404 Not Found):
wget https://raw.github.com/lanceseidman/PiCAST/master/installer.sh

nor
wget https://raw.github.com/lanceseidman/PiCAST/tree/picast2/master/installer.sh

same error (404). So it's really hard as you can see to get Picast to actually install on the latest Raspberry Pi

This is because it's not in the master branch. It's in the other branch, which means you'll have to do PiCAST install manually as the GIT file will not work as mentioned (simply manually download the GIT and move the folder hierarchy OR manually download the files/directories to a single folder and run the installer).

Why? PiCAST3 is coming shortly, so everything organized by its previous version.
