Granola by Robin Fried, modified by Laura Janda

Wet ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2/3 or 3/4 cup oil
  • 1/3 or 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup molasses

Mix in a pan on low heat (around 4) until smooth

Dry ingredients (all nuts are coarsely chopped):

  • 500g/1 pound or more oats
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes (fine)
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 1+ cup cashews
  • 1+ cup walnuts
  • 1+ cup pecans

Preparation

  • Heat oven to 135 degrees C/275 degrees F
  • Mix all dry ingredients
  • Pour in wet ingredients and mix thoroughly
  • Distribute over two baking pans lined with baking paper
  • Bake 30 mins and then turn and stir, repeat so that the mixture is baked a total of three times
