I like to collect and upload tracklogs. When I set off for a trip (geocaching, typically), I track my drive with OSMTracker and upload it to OSM servers right after I finish my drive. (I actually collect tracklogs during my walk as well but I deal with those different way - use them in JOSM where I can delete undesired portions before uploading the logs to servers. But this issue is about the driving tracklogs).
I would like the tracklogs not to either start or end at my home location. Or any other sensitive location. Privacy, you know. So I launch the logging when I'm far enough and stop the log when approaching my home.
But unfortunately sometimes I forget to end the tracklog and I find out when switching off the ignition in front of my house. OK, no problem actually, I just don't upload this tracklog.
It is a pity to lose another tracklog contribution. If there only was a way to delete the last minute or two. Or even better, the last 1 km (or more).
I don't know how difficult it would be to implement but my idea is to add a context menu item "Trim tracklog" which would display a dialog where one could enter how much to cut from the end (and from the start as well, when we're at it). He could then verify the result on the map using the "Display" function.

I can well understand the need for this. Might also be useful simply to select a specific portion of a track to be extracted and saved separately. We have a tagging interface. Could this be used to activate trimming functionality like this while the track is displayed even after recording had stopped ? Suggest defining privacy area would be less useful.
