As part of #1901, two comments were made with respect to use of plugins.TypedName:

• consistently use variable name in plugins (currently both typedName and tn are used)
• decide on consisten use of TypedName.Type, TypedName.Name or TypedName.String() as the key used for lookups, configruation references, logging, etc.
