Threadsafe Operation

The async functions can be run concurrently. This can cause an issue if multiple field writes are set up to single register. The initial read from a read/modify/write operation can happen in parallel.

However a real register in hardware would have this problem if multiple threads attempting a read/modify/write operations. So perhaps this should not implemented.
