Hi,
Thanks so much for your contribution.
I have an issue, after settings for BIOS as below:

  1. Advanced > SATA and change the option from Intel to ACPI
  2. Advanced > DVMT Pre-Allocated Graphics and change this to 64MB
  3. Boot > Secure Boot and turn off Secure Boot
  4. Boot -> turn off Fast Boot

Restart the computer and it's stuck on the ROG logo, can not enter BIOS again to boot macOS USB installation. I had to clear CMOS and reset BIOS to the default. Could you please give me a suggestion?

Got the same issue, and it seems like it's the switch from Intel RST to Ahci that does it... I was kinda expecting issues with windows booting as that can also happen when switching from raid to ahci and vice versa but not the whole dang machine freezing up until the bios is reset

Ok after a couple hours of intense googling and cursing I found this thread for a different laptop with the same issue: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1314233/booting-ubuntu-with-rst-enabled-ahci-not-an-option

The solution is remove the second NVME drive as Asus bios developers don't know how to support multiple drives under AHCI 😒. I just did this myself and can confirm it works

If you are using them in AHCI mode, i think your SSD's firmware is conflict with your mainboard, please try another SSD. I have the same issue and since my SSD and BIOS version is the latest so i change to another SSD and it worked.

Here are my cases:

  • Installed the SSD and run in AHCI mode: stuck on boot (can't press F2 to go to BIOS setting, have to remove the SSD to boot again)

  • Removed the SSD and run in AHCI mode: boot ok

  • Installed the SSD and run in RST/RAID mode: book ok

You should try:

  1. Update BIOS version

  2. Update SSD firmware

  3. If you don't need to use AHCI mode, change it to RST mode

  4. Buy/Change another SSD (in my case, it worked)
