Description

Bootstrap scripts are only useful if they work from a clean checkout instead of a maintainer-prepared machine.

Acceptance Criteria

• Run or simulate bootstrap flows from a clean-checkout perspective and encode the validation path.
• Capture the failure cases that contributors are most likely to hit first.
• Add or update tests, fixtures, and docs for the changed surface as needed.
