It would be cool if IMT presets (which, to be clear, can be published in the workshop) could be applied to segments and nodes in somewhat of a prop-like fashion, based on flags-based criteria, and (for nodes) possibly some kind of more advanced examination of the connecting road assets.
Blank road meshes could get their lane markings and even their medians, etc., based on how the asset defines them. Basically, you'd have a set of base meshes, and no need to do any additional work on them. IMT and AN together just do it all for you, picking up node marking support as a bonus.
Maybe AN could even include a set of blank meshes based on the vanilla look, for the most common scenarios. One could then create highly customized roads without using any external tools.
This would be a huge leap in road asset creation.
